Learn to make two Indian breakfast classics: Masala baked beans on toast and egg bhurji!
In this cooking class at the Culinary Literacy Center of the Free Library of Philadelphia, you’ll learn how to make two classic and comforting Indian breakfast dishes. Masala baked beans on toast are a tasty mashup of Indian, American, and British cuisines, and egg bhurji takes basic scrambled eggs to a whole new level! The class will teach you how to use foundational ingredients like cumin, green chilis, garlic, and cilantro. You will never throw out a wilting bunch of cilantro again!
This class is led by local artist and cooking enthusiast Shebani Rao, who wants to show you that there is more to life and Indian food than chicken tikka masala. Shebani is passionate about bringing regional Indian recipes and techniques to Philly. After the class, she will point you to local businesses that will help you stock your Indian kitchen.
