Nikedila De Wanda

Indonesian Dance

Nikedila De Wanda (nickname: Nike) is an Indonesian dancer, born in the capital city of Jakarta and raised in the city of Bandung. Nike grew up in two different ethnicities, with her father from the city of Palembang in South Sumatra and her mother from Banten in West Java. By embracing both cultures and traditions, Nike developed an expansive understanding of the diversity of Indonesian art and culture. She started her training in traditional Balinese dance during middle school, under the guidance of the Sekar Tampaksiring dance company. She later supplemented her repertoire with training in West Javanese traditional dance with Santika Group.

Since arriving in Philadelphia in 2014, Nike joined the Indonesian dance group, Modero, in South Philadelphia, where she works as a dance instructor and a part of the professional line-up, Modero & Company. As part of this group, she has performed at prestigious events, including the World Festival of Families during the Pope Frances visit in 2015, Philadelphia Phillies’ Asian Pacific Celebration Night, Walt Disney World, and many others.
