Taller de Calaveritas de Azúcar - Day of the Dead Sugar Skull workshop
1:00pm to 3:00pm
As part of the La Ofrenda, the Philadelphia Folklore Project is presenting a Sugar Skull Workshop with Cesar Viveros and Ivonne Pinto-Garcia on Saturday, October 19, 2019, from 1 PM to 3 PM at the La Ofrenda Exhibition Space at 1135 South 9th Street.
Inspired by the tradition of Dia de los Muertos and the art of Jose Posada, Sugar Skulls are a popular Mexican craft. Join us for an interactive workshop with La Ofrenda team members Cesar Viveros and Ivonne Pinto Garcia.
During this workshop, participants will learn about the art of Jose Posada (La calavera catrina) while they decorate their own sugar skull. With the proper care, Sugar Skulls can last for years and become part of your Day of the Dead decorations used to honor the ancestors.
This workshop is open to children ages 10-18 and adults. Space is limited to 20 participants. Street parking is available. The workshop is free and open to the public. All necessary ingredients and tools are included.
You will be able to bring your sugar skull home too!
