SOLD OUT! Pan de Muerto - Bread Making Experience | Oct. 23
6:00pm to 8:00pm
THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT!
Nearly everyone in central and southern Mexico enjoys ‘pan de muerto’—translated literally as "bread of the dead"—as an important part of the annual Day of the Dead celebrations. Most family and communal ofrendas (offerings for the beloved deceased) include at least one loaf left for visiting souls to enjoy. ‘Pan de muerto’ styles and recipes vary based on geographical region and local beliefs.
As part of La Ofrenda, Cesar Viveros will join Silvestre and Angeles, owners of El Rancho Viejo restaurant in South Philly, in sharing their family bread-making tradition. Silvestre will also tell stories as guests learn to shape the dough that will be baked by Angeles. Tickets are required for this free event as there will be limited space at El Rancho Viejo.
Mole and hot chocolate will be provided for all participants!
